Situated on the Wiltshire/Dorset border in lovely countryside,  within easy reach of the medieval hill top town of Shaftesbury (10 minutes) to the west and the Cathedral city of Salisbury (30 minutes) to the east.

The attractive village of Donhead St Andrew lies between Salisbury Plain with the A303 to the north and Cranborne Chase with the A30 to the south. The heart of this pretty village , with its Church and famous Pub (The Forester) is 1.5 miles from the main road - A30 - and has the River Nadder running through it.

Mereworth is a few minutes walk from the pub down a quiet dead-end lane that has a water mill at the end and then a network of public footpaths.

Nearby Wardour Woods, easily accessed from the house, lead to Wardour Castle, an English Heritage Monument well worth a visit. Alternatively, the Ox Drove which runs along the high ridge between here and Salisbury gives wonderful views.

The whole area is renowned for its numerous footpaths and bridleways, which provide wonderful walking and cycling. These include The Wessex Ridgeway, Fontmell Down, Melbury Beacon and Win Green with views on a clear day to the Isle of Wight.

Mereworth is ideally located for exploring some of the most beautiful parts of southern England where there are numerous places to visit, including Shaftesbury - 4.5 miles, a Saxon Hilltop Town has much to see includung 'Gold Hill' made famous by the Hovis Advertisement. Salisbury - 18 miles is a bustling old city with good shops and a Cathedral spire that can be seen for miles.   Stonehenge - 20 miles visible from the A303 is one of the top UK visited sites. Longleat and the Safari Park, Stourhead House and Gardens, Wilton House and the spectacular Dorset coast which is only 1 hour away.

The area is blessed with excellent pubs, restaurants and cafes, many of which can be incorporated into circular walks. Our own village pub, The Forester, specialising in seafood, is only a few minutes walk away whilst the award winning Grove Arms is in the next village, Ludwell.

We want our guests to feel this is a special place to stay so we will only take one booking at a time.
